HD and Blue Ray?

blue ray
Carmen C asked:

Ok how much can the common man be manipulated?

I have seen both formats and to be honest with the same 1080p tv’s they both look identical with some very very very minor sound characteristics.

Blue Rays states there disks hold about 50g’s
HD says they hold about 30g’s
This is pointless imo because a two hour movie is a two hour movie and well when the credits roll I never say god I wish I had more space on this disk.
Sony is like Nazi Germany and they want to monopolize the market. There pr team has done a wonderful job of making the public believe that Blue Ray is better and you have to have a blue ray player. The truth is they need to sell blue ray to make up for lack of ps3 sales (which has a blue ray drive). If everyone buys blue ray sony gets fat! Don’t buy into the Hype the formats both produce 1080p the highest resolution avaiable to date. Why is sony winning??? Because they have the endless check book. Don’t buy into the hype that blue ray is better.
All I am saying Like it or not is that IMHO I think they look the same. I think that everyone likes the idea BLUE RAY wow that sound much cooler then HD. Get a life

  1. Technically HD-DVD is better, it has more features. But we all know that doesn’t count for anything, it’s common knowledge that betamax was technically the better tape format.

  2. Sony is winning because Microsoft was too cheap and stupid to include the HD DVD drive in their Xbox 360.

Sony waited a year to include the Blu-ray and took a hit on their PS3 sales as a result. I hope they collect huge rewards for their patience and vision.

  3. What possible feature could HD have to make it “better”? All it has is pricing, but that’s hardly an argument. If you’re going to upgrade from standard DVD, you’d better make it worth it.

Blu-ray is seriously better in every way. It holds more data and supports higher resolutions. Yes, sony sucks, but they really do have a better format. so, the real “truth is” that you’re letting your hatred of sony cloud your judgement and it makes you sound ignorant. They sell ps3’s at a loss just to get Blu-Ray players out there on the market. Like it or not, Blu-Ray has already won.

That being said, I’m betting on never owning either format. I plan on downloading all of my HD content directly to my HTPC.

  4. Well, like it or not, the Blue-Ray will most likely win out. It has better overall performance and disk space. But I will wait until the price comes down. There are not that many HD-DVD movies available anyway. (and expensive also.) Blue Ray in 2007 sales were twice that of HD-DVD..
