Is there a difference in Blu Ray Discs between Widescreen and Full Screen?
Do both versions come in a Blu Ray or are they two different versions for one movie you buy seperate?
Really? I would think that makes no sense since most HDTV are widescreens. I bought a ps3 for xmas havent opened it yet but it comes with Spiderman 3 and outside it say nothing on widescreen or full screen.

u buy it seperate like dvd
Many of them come with both, but it’s really all up to the manufacturer.
The actual resolution of HD is widescreen so I would imagine all disks are widescreen.
You are right … HD disks are all wide screen.
That said movies vary in aspect ratio (width to height ratio) from 1.33:1 to over 2.7:1. What we call widescreen TV is actually 16:9 (or 1.78:1).
Since the director chooses the aspect ratio for a movie … anything other than 1.78:1 (e.g. 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 … 2 very popular aspect ratios) will still give black bars at the top and bottom, and old 1.33:1 (4:3) movies will have black bars on each side on a widescreen TV.
All Blu Ray are widescreen
There are no full screen bluray movies and I hope that there never will be…..wide screen preserves the movie the way it is shown in theaters, full screen chops off the left and ride side of the picture and stretches it to fill the square shaped tv sets. People think that the black bars in widescreen movies hide the picture but in fact it’s just empty space not used by the movie….while on the other hand you are actually losing up to half the picture on full screen movies.
I think it’s just plain wrong to chop up an artist’s work just so people with outdated tv’s don’t whine. What if the Mona Lisa had the sides or the top and bottom cut off to make it fit in a square frame? What a tragic butchering of art that would be eh?
So in short no one’s forcing you to buy widescreen…..just stay away from bluray and HD DVD if you prefer fullscreen…..or “fool-screen” as I like to call it.
